9-01-1973 A strike wave begins in Durban when 2000 black brickworkers walk off the job and win a doubling of their wages [more]

10-01-1973 100,000 mainly Black African workers at the Coronation Brick & Tile factory in Durban walked off the job and succeeded in doubling wages and making progress towards racially mixed trade unions. [more]

11-01-1973 Strike at tea packaging factory, TW Becket & Co. Despite police intervention and threats of dismissal, 100 out of 150 Black employees continue to strike. On January 25, they obtained the requested raise and reinstatement. [more]

23-01-1982 Formula1 Grand Prix drivers went on strike and barricaded themselves in doors in protest against new "super licence" conditions. They were fined but they won and the new licences were withdrawn. [more]
