Photo Contest Update

The contest is closed now, we’re waiting while the judges discuss the entries and select the finalists.  That should be done by mid-week.  Then the voting begins.

In comparison with last year’s contest we have more submissions (189 vs. 118 last year).  I think we should be quite pleased by the growth in numbers as a surprising number of workers with cameras are reluctant (embarassed) to make their work too public.  Hope fully as the contest continues the numbers will grow each year.

Derek, this is great. I believe I suggested before but let me do so again suggest a basic press release about the contest, its growth, some stats, and the like. It can go to the “culture editor” of a few mainstrwam papers and magazines – LS corespondents should be asked {Eric can handle this?} – for suggestions {including the suggestion that THEY / WE send it out} for local people who should receive it …
I suggest for instance the Sidney Hillman Foundation here in NYC.

Great idea, though I think we should send it when we have something to announce: the winners.

If people could start coming up with a list of either e-mail addresses or fax numbers I will draft something.
