Twitter – coming soon in every LabourStart language

We’ve had Twitter feeds in English (5,368 followers) and French (90 followers)  for some time now; this week we launched one in Japanese (2 followers) as well.

Today I began the process of setting up 10 more for all the languages we regularly campaign in.  (I’ve begun work on the German feed.)

The Twitter feeds, which we will publicize, will be one more way to get the word out about our campaigns in those languages.

  • I was thinking I’d like a LSCanada Twitter account/feed. Could you explain for us all how that might work and what we’d need to do?

Basically, there are two kinds of newswires. There are those which we automatically feed stuff to, which is what’s happening with the ones I’m setting up now. And there are those which are updated manually. I need to set up new LS email addresses in each case because Twitter requires an email address to have an account. So if we want Canada-specific or Australia-specific news (as has been requested), I can set that up to work automatically. I’ll add this to my task list today.

  • Would it make it easier for you if I set up an account using the CanadaATLabourStart.org address? As well, that way I can also use it to tweet stuff not coming from the automatic feed.

Not necessary. Every new Twitter account I set up is a separate email address and login. I can easily give you access once this is done – and the same is true for all the language editions. I hope to have a lot more of this done sometime Friday.

  • Thanks. Nice. I also like this approach as it means there’s a central, single location with all the usernames and passwords. On of us out here gets hit by a bus and…
