Don Joaquín Montes Larraín
Ambassador of Chile to the Republic of Hungary
Dear Mr Ambassador,
We have just received the information from our Chilean fellow musicians of the
industrial dispute which had erupted between the musicians and the management of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Chile in the Teatro Municipal de Santiago. We have also been informed that the management of the Theatre, instead of conducting a proper social dialogue with the musicians, chose rather to get rid of them and dismissed all union members from the orchestra.
On behalf or the Hungarian musicians, we deprecate this blatant disregard to
union rights and the intimidation of musicians, and respectfully ask you, Mr
Ambassador, to exert your influence at your government in order to resolve
this untenable situation through a proper social dialogue with the musicians
and their union.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Gyimesi László
Secretary General
Hungarian Musicians' and Dancers' Union (MZTSZ)
Dr. Tomori Pál
Director
Arts Unions' Bureau for the Protection of Performers' Rights (EJI)
