Urgent: Colombian Secret Police Abduct Union Activist

From Justice for Colombia:

On Wednesday 1st June Hernando Hernandez Tapasco, the human rights officer of the Colombian agricultural workers trade union FENSUAGRO (Colombia’s second largest trade union), was abducted by five members of the Colombian secret police (DAS) from outside of the union’s headquarters in the Colombian capital Bogotá.

We believe that yesterday (Thursday 2nd June) the Attorney General of Colombia ordered the secret police to take Hernando to the town of Manizales about 100 miles from Bogotá and his current whereabouts are unclear.

Please telephone the Colombian Embassy in your country as soon as possible and demand that Hernando be released and that his life be respected.
