LabourStart has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for this website: LabourStart.

Registering your details: Our site's registration form for joining the LabourStart mailing list requires users to give us their email addresses only. We do not collect your name, postal address, country, phone or fax, or any other identifying details. Once you have signed up to be on our mailing list, we will ask you to confirm that subscription by email. This ensures that someone else cannot sign up your address without your agreement. We use that contact information to send you occasional mailings, averaging once per week. We do not share our list with anyone. Every mailing we send out to this list includes a reminder of how to unsubscribe from the list. To get off the LabourStart mailing list, go to http://www.labourstart.org/unsubscribeme.shtml

Other services:In addition, LabourStart sometimes uses other services, such as online bookstores or jobs boards, which are hosted by other companies . See these companies' websites for their own privacy policies.

Campaigns: When you send off a campaign message (of protest or solidarity), you are revealing some details to whoever is the target of the campaign. The only details that we require are your name and email address. The targets of campaigns may be corporations or governments, and copies of messages are forwarded on at the request of the union which has asked us to do the campaign. We specifically ask unions which request campaigns from us to not use the email addresses which they might receive this way except to possibly do a one-off mailing to thank participants.

Forums: This site makes web forums available to its users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.

Security measures:This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. (These include regular backups of all data, including mailing lists; access to all our information is password protected.)
