Paid internship at LabourStart

THE DEADLINE HAS NOW PASSED.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted an application. We will be in touch with all of you in the next few days.

LabourStart is looking for someone to work starting in October 2016. This is an exciting opportunity for people committed to social change.

What you'll be doing

Supporting the LabourStart editor in dealing with all issues that arise from LabourStart's news and campaigning work and our publications. This will include answering emails, dealing with union partners and LabourStart volunteer correspondents and translators, and working with the editor on the website to maximize its effectiveness. We will also be building toward our next global solidarity conference. Our goal is the build the largest possible network to successfully campaign for workers' rights and stronger unions.

The skills you need to bring

Pay, hours, location

At the moment, LabourStart does not maintain a physical office, so this is likely to involve mostly remote working, but with at least weekly face to face meetings. At the beginning, you'll work some of the time with the editor, who works from home. Later, we'll consider renting a desk somewhere if necessary.

You'll work up to 24 hours a week (this is negotiable) and pay will be on a consultancy basis at the London living wage -- currently £9.40/hour. (Note that this is NOT the minimum wage, which is £7.20/hour.)

The internship is open-ended. There will be a probation period of three months.

This internship is available only to residents of the UK as it requires a presence in London.

LabourStart encourages members of Black and ethnic minority communities, women and disabled people to apply for this position.

Interviews will take place shortly after that in Muswell Hill, North London. We will only reply to those people who will be interviewed.
