31 months away, but …

The ITUC has announced its 3rd world congress will be held in Berlin during the week of 19 May 2014.  Maybe we could start planning now for a fourth or fifth LabourStart Global Solidarity Conference to be held in Berlin in the week leading up to the ITUC?  Any thoughts?

  • I think we should try. Not that I think doing so will have a huge positive impact on our work, but if we make a concerted effort to get the word out at the ITUC proper we might have an impact. If we were there in good numbers before or after and could spend some time at their conference we might be able to develop some solid contacts.

Leafletting with correspondent applications? A table in the gallery? A fringe event?

It does worry me just a little that we have no huge base in Germany, though I suppoose the same could be said of Turkey. And that might be a reason to move the conference there.

Just one correction – we actually have a fairly large German mailing list these days – only exceeded by English, French, Norwegian and Spanish. It’s now over 1,000 names – considerably larger than the Turkish list. Those 1,000 names should provide us with a base of correspondents and supporters we can develop in the next 30 minutes.

  • And if we can’t develop a base, we can always just invent it. 🙂
