{"id":5069,"date":"2026-07-24T16:12:57","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T14:12:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=5069"},"modified":"2026-07-24T16:12:57","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T14:12:57","slug":"18-days-in-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=5069","title":{"rendered":"18 days in July"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since I last updated this blog, we&#8217;ve had a few bits of good news.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Turkey:<\/strong> Nearly all the trade union leaders whose release we have campaigned for are now released.\u00a0 We have a wonderful statement of thanks from them, which we will shortly publicise widely.\u00a0 This comes on the heels of our recent campaign in support of Turkish teachers at an Italian language school, which also contributed to a win.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Taiwan:<\/strong> For the first time in more than three months, we have been asked for help with a campaign. The campaign has just gone live and we are beginning translations and publicity today.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labourstartcampaigns.net\/show_campaign.cgi?c=5843\">Here is the campaign &#8212; please share this widely.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Canada:<\/strong> We received a generous donation from the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) as well as our largest-ever donation from an individual.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other campaigns:<\/strong> Just in the last two weeks, we have reached out to partners about campaigns in Serbia, Libya, Panama, Zimbabwe, Cambodia and more.\u00a0 We expect one or more of those to go live.<\/p>\n<p><strong>News:\u00a0<\/strong>In the first 23 days of July our volunteer correspondents posted\u00a0<strong>2,059<\/strong> news stories to LabourStart &#8212;<strong>89<\/strong> news stories per day, on average.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Podcasts:\u00a0<\/strong>We are hoping to revive our regular broadcasts and have proposed interviews to several activists, tied into our campaigns and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Global Solidarity Conference:\u00a0<\/strong>We are hoping to hold another Global Solidarity Conference in 2027 and are currently exploring options in Europe and North America.\u00a0 More details once we have them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since I last updated this blog, we&#8217;ve had a few bits of good news.
