{"id":5005,"date":"2025-10-24T12:42:19","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T10:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=5005"},"modified":"2025-10-24T12:42:19","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T10:42:19","slug":"this-week-on-labourstart-17-24-october-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=5005","title":{"rendered":"This week on LabourStart: 17 \u2013 24 October 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5006\" src=\"http:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/5738-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/5738-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/5738.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Last week we reported on the launch of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labourstartcampaigns.net\/show_campaign.cgi?c=5727\">our Lesotho campaign<\/a>, which had <strong>1,317<\/strong> supporters and was appearing in three languages.\u00a0 Today, that campaign has more than doubled in size, to <strong>2,854<\/strong> supporters, and appears in 11 languages.\u00a0 In addition, we recorded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzsprout.com\/2313632\/episodes\/18061839\">a podcast interview with the General Secretary of UNITE<\/a> yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Today we are launching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labourstartcampaigns.net\/show_campaign.cgi?c=5738\">a new campaign in support of the air traffic controllers union in Serbia<\/a>, whose leaders have been unfairly sacked from their jobs.\u00a0 That campaign has been launched at the request of the European Transport Workers Federation.<\/p>\n<p>Last weekend, all of our campaigns were briefly offline as our hosting company migrated to new servers.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve done some work <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/news\/index2025._php\">a new home page for LabourStart<\/a>.\u00a0 Initially in English only, and not yet live, the main change is that news stories that used to be hidden at the bottom of the page are now right on top, where everyone can see them, in the middle column of the page.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve heard from the Global Labour University and expect to soon begin interviewing prospective interns for the spring of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Our mailing lists continue to grow.\u00a0 This week, we picked up <strong>205<\/strong> more subscribers to the English list and <strong>149<\/strong> for the Turkish list &#8212; these are supporters of our new campaigns who have opted-in to be on our lists.<\/p>\n<p>And finally, I won&#8217;t do this regularly but &#8230; after initially reporting on our stats last week, I thought I&#8217;d have another look.\u00a0 It looks like LabourStart (not counting the campaigns &#8212; just the news pages) had <strong>24,107<\/strong> visitors this week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week we reported on the launch of our Lesotho campaign, which had 1,317 supporters and was appearing in three languages.\u00a0 Today, that campaign has more than doubled in size, to 2,854 supporters, and appears in 11 languages.\u00a0 In addition, we recorded a podcast interview with the General Secretary of UNITE yesterday.
