{"id":4767,"date":"2023-08-05T20:08:38","date_gmt":"2023-08-05T18:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=4767"},"modified":"2023-08-05T20:08:38","modified_gmt":"2023-08-05T18:08:38","slug":"the-last-two-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=4767","title":{"rendered":"The last two months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Due to some overseas travel and other issues, I&#8217;ve not been updating this blog &#8212; the last update was on 1 June.\u00a0 So this will try to cover the last two months briefly.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll try to keep the updates shorter and more frequent in future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Campaigns:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We just now launched <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/victor-licona\"><strong>a new campaign<\/strong><\/a>, together with PSI, in support of a jailed trade union leader in Mexico.\u00a0 Translations are coming in and publicity happening.\u00a0 After the first day, we have <strong>2,750<\/strong> supporters &#8212; a good start.<\/li>\n<li>We closed the Belarus and Georgia campaigns after three months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Publicity:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We&#8217;ve created the first version of a media list with a few dozen names.\u00a0 All campaigns, events and conferences will now be sent to them.\u00a0 Comrades with suggestions of who else should be on this list, please do let us know.<\/li>\n<li>We have reinvigorated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/labourstart\/\"><strong>our Instagram account<\/strong><\/a> (485 followers) and signed up for a Threads account.\u00a0 We continue to grow our followings on Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, LinkedIn and Mastodon.<\/li>\n<li>We ran advertising campaigns on Facebook and Microsoft in support of our Belarus campaign, but they produced very disappointing results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Next book:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some of the participants in our recent Global Solidarity Conference have sent in texts of their presentations.\u00a0 We have about 9,000 words and will probably post this online and perhaps as a print booklet as well.\u00a0 The texts need to be edited.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Donations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We received a very generous donation from the European Transport Workers Federation (ETF) and another from NUPGE in Canada.\u00a0 In September we will resume our fundraising efforts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Due to some overseas travel and other issues, I&#8217;ve not been updating this blog &#8212; the last update was on 1 June.\u00a0 So this will try to cover the last two months briefly.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll try to keep the updates shorter and more frequent in future.
