{"id":4215,"date":"2018-09-14T13:16:51","date_gmt":"2018-09-14T11:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=4215"},"modified":"2018-09-14T13:16:51","modified_gmt":"2018-09-14T11:16:51","slug":"major-new-campaign-on-iran-launched-and-other-news-for-the-last-3-weeks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=4215","title":{"rendered":"Major new campaign on Iran launched &#8211; and other news for the last 3 weeks &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Campaigns update:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Here is what&#8217;s happened to our existing campaigns this month \u2014 the number in brackets is the total from 23 days ago:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Russia: Union-busting at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology \u2013 9,099 [9,050] +49<br \/>\n<strong>Iran: Free Mohammed Habibi 8,796 [0] +8,796 [new campaign]<\/strong><br \/>\nXPO: Time to talk about your behaviour \u2013 7,493 [7,406] +87<br \/>\nFrance: Rail unions fight against privatisation \u2013 7,200 [7,188] +12<\/p>\n<p>At the moment it looks like the Iran campaign will soon become our largest, and with boosts from some new translations and followups, it could exceed 10,000 supporters &#8212; the first time in a while that one of our campaigns has done that well.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>In other developments in the last three weeks:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Australia:<\/strong> After 3 months, we closed the Exxon Mobil campaign &#8211; it had 6,434 supporters. We picked up ten new correspondents from Australia this month &#8211; a big welcome to all of you. Our Australian Twitter feed has run into some trouble; we are trying to fix this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Canada:<\/strong> At the request of unions, we&#8217;ve publicised a few union jobs to our mailing list. We also did a dedicated Labour Day mailing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>France:<\/strong> We&#8217;re pressing the unions there through the ITF to find out if we can suspend our long-running campaign in support of railway workers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Iran:<\/strong> We launched a major new campaign at the request of the Education International in support of a jailed teacher trade unionist, Mohammed Habibi.
