{"id":2818,"date":"2013-03-01T12:01:42","date_gmt":"2013-03-01T10:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=2818"},"modified":"2013-03-01T12:01:42","modified_gmt":"2013-03-01T10:01:42","slug":"our-next-book","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=2818","title":{"rendered":"Our next book"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following upon the success of our first book, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.createspace.com\/4104805\">Campaigning Online and Winning<\/a>, we&#8217;re now beginning work on a second title. \u00a0The working title is\u00a0<em><strong>The Global Labour Movement: An Introduction<\/strong><\/em>, and it aims to provide an introduction to the global union federations, the ITUC and others for our readers.<\/p>\n<p>We are starting from the assumption that the average trade union activist will know very little about the global unions but it is increasingly important that they do so.<\/p>\n<p>This will make our work at LabourStart easier and of course it will benefit the global unions by raising their profiles.<\/p>\n<p>Edd and I have done up an outline for the book, a large part of which will be a guide to the various organizations, and we have some ideas for who to interview, who can write introductions and afterwords, and so on.<\/p>\n<p><em>If any of you have any thoughts on this, they&#8217;re most welcome &#8212; we&#8217;re in the very early stages.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The book will be written over the next five weeks, with intention of submitting it for publication by 19 April &#8212; and launching it in London at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/108124432691593\/\">the LabourStart May Day party<\/a> on 4th May.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following upon the success of our first book, Campaigning Online and Winning, we&#8217;re now beginning work on a second title. \u00a0The working title is\u00a0The Global Labour Movement: An Introduction, and it aims to provide an introduction to the global union federations, the ITUC and others for our readers.
