{"id":2193,"date":"2012-03-25T13:21:03","date_gmt":"2012-03-25T11:21:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=2193"},"modified":"2012-03-25T13:21:03","modified_gmt":"2012-03-25T11:21:03","slug":"weekly-roundup-16-3-25-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=2193","title":{"rendered":"Weekly roundup, 16.3-25.3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some of the things I&#8217;ve been working on over the last 9 days &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brussels on Thursday:<\/strong> I already sent out a report to a number of you about my visit on Thursday to Brussels where I met with senior staff at the International Trade Union Confederation, the European Trade Union Confederation and the Education International.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Campaigns &#8211; closing:<\/strong> I closed the Fiat campaign, which did very well for us and got us a very large number of new Italian subscribers to our list. \u00a0We&#8217;ve gotten a report from the union (FIOM) which I&#8217;ll share with you. \u00a0I then closed down the Kazakhstan campaign (which we launched following the massacre of strikers in December) but have yet to receive a report on its impact. \u00a0It&#8217;s been something like 6 months now that we&#8217;ve consistently run campaigns in support of those strikers, generating thousands of messages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Campaigns &#8211; starting:<\/strong> On Monday, I launched the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/cgi-bin\/solidarityforever\/show_campaign.cgi?c=1322\">Colombia campaign<\/a> at the request of PSI and Unison. \u00a0 On Friday, at the request of the ITF, we launched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/cgi-bin\/solidarityforever\/show_campaign.cgi?c=1329\">a campaign in support of locked-out New Zealand port workers<\/a>. \u00a0On Saturday, I did work on our next campaign &#8211; in support of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionbook.org\/profiles\/blogs\/lock-out-of-800-workers-of-p-j-dave-flora-of-p-j-dave-group-of\">800 locked out flower workers in Kenya<\/a>. \u00a0Yes, I know &#8212; three campaigns in five days puts a strain on everyone, especially our translators. \u00a0We need to begin thinking of way to control this &#8212; a team of people who reviews campaigns and can tell a global union federation &#8211; sorry, no, not now. \u00a0I find it hard to do this by myself &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Campaigns &#8211; improvements to tracking, etc:<\/strong> I&#8217;ve made it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/cgi-bin\/solidarityforever\/showcampaigns.pl\">easier to see archived and closed campaigns<\/a>, and have moved the totals for reach active campaign up to the top of the page (right side), as previously we&#8217;d need to scroll all the way to the bottom to see these summaries. \u00a0This was needed as we started getting campaigns with more than 15,000 messages sent, making it harder to see the whole list and the summaries. \u00a0You can see an example of this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/cgi-bin\/solidarityforever\/showsupporters.pl?c=1329\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coming up in the next few days:<\/strong> Complete setup of Kenya campaign.
