{"id":1502,"date":"2011-03-18T20:06:48","date_gmt":"2011-03-18T18:06:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=1502"},"modified":"2011-03-18T20:10:19","modified_gmt":"2011-03-18T18:10:19","slug":"friday-evening-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=1502","title":{"rendered":"Friday evening updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve now done five mailings using <strong>MailChimp<\/strong> &#8211; 2 to our correspondents and 3 to our English language list. \u00a0I&#8217;ve only gotten one bit of feedback &#8211; someone who noticed and liked the improvement. \u00a0No complaints from anyone.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m in discussions with Mahesh about getting the <strong>Hindi and Bengali<\/strong> editions of LabourStart off the ground &#8211; hopefully soon.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been working on my presentation for the <strong>debate on Monday at Oxford<\/strong> on activism vs slacktivism, as well as Thursday&#8217;s talk in New Orleans at the <strong>UALE conference<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve had a slow flow of nominations for the <strong>Labour Video of the Year <\/strong>competition &#8211; only 16 nominated so far. \u00a0I&#8217;ve sent out a reminder to our lists.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re also just beginning to collect pre-registrations for our <strong>global solidarity conference in Istanbul<\/strong> using Facebook. \u00a0At the moment we have 10 saying yes and 12 saying maybe, \u00a0for a total of 22. \u00a0I expect this to increase in the next few days as we&#8217;ve not only mentioned it in our mailings, but have just sent it out to members of all our causes on Facebook.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve now done five mailings using MailChimp &#8211; 2 to our correspondents and 3 to our English language list. \u00a0I&#8217;ve only gotten one bit of feedback &#8211; someone who noticed and liked the improvement. \u00a0No complaints from anyone.
