{"id":1420,"date":"2011-01-07T08:54:01","date_gmt":"2011-01-07T06:54:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=1420"},"modified":"2011-01-07T08:55:03","modified_gmt":"2011-01-07T06:55:03","slug":"friday-morning-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.labourstart.org\/blogs\/?p=1420","title":{"rendered":"Friday morning updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>531 people have already answered our <strong>survey on trade union use of the net,<\/strong> with the number rising all the time.\u00a0 You can track the results in real time <a href=\"http:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/sr.aspx?sm=O0ZmXmCtwNGHw6wQDABxXuvL_2bT5f5t2NhJQi52sA6X0_3d\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The Education International has agreed for us to close down the <strong>campaign<\/strong> we launched 3 months ago today.\u00a0 It has gotten over 2,000 responses but has had little impact on the Colombian government.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ll be attending <strong>NetRoots UK<\/strong> tomorrow &#8211; a major conference about activist (not specifically trade union) use of the new technology, hosted by the Trades Union Congress in London.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve been invited to speak in New Orleans in March at the<strong> annual conference of UALE<\/strong>, the labor educators organization.<\/li>\n<li>Our <strong>Global Solidarity Conference <\/strong>scheduled to take place in Sydney later this year is going to have to be postponed to 2012 or later; we&#8217;re currently exploring whether we can do a 2011 conference somewhere else.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve stopped <strong>podcasting<\/strong>; interest levels were far too low.<\/li>\n<li><strong>UnionBook<\/strong> picked up more than 20 new members in the last 24 hours and is getting interesting publicity &#8212; a great article in Spanish from a Peruvian trade unionist which you can read on the site, plus I&#8217;ve been interviewed at length by a reporter from Hurriyet, Turkey&#8217;s largest newspaper.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>531 people have already answered our survey on trade union use of the net, with the number rising all the time.\u00a0 You can track the results in real time here.
