Starting today, Radio LabourStart has suspended all regular programming and we are broadcasting only content produced by the locked out workers at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). We will continue to broadcast this content 24/7 until the lockout ends.
Today's content includes an hour long broadcast from Vancouver, described as follows by CBC Unplugged:
This one, Studio Zero, is from Vancouver and is introduced by the various community radio stations which have agreed to air it Tuesday. Some of the highlights include Bill Richardson explaining why he's "pissed off" by the current labour dispute, a thoughtful commentary by national radio reporter Curt Petrovich, and musical acts include Joe Keithley. Also: Ian Hanomansing on the loss of a supper-hour newscast, and Tetsuru Shigamatsu.
We also have a 6 minute broadcast from another bunch of locked out CBC staff. Regarding this one, LabourStart senior correspondent Derek Blackadder writes:
This update on the state of the 'management dispute' and the issues at
stake was prepared by locked-out on-air staff from CBC Fredericton. Though
not yet on the internet, a number of station/programme staff have started
producing counter-news for broadcast of community and campus stations across
the country. RLS will provide updates as they become available.
In other words -- stay tuned!
If you are a locked out CBC worker and you have produced some content we should be broadcasting, please email us today.
