LabourStart correspondent Jagath Bandara is from Sri Lanka. He is currently living in Australia, where he works for the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union (AMWU), but he retains close links with Sri Lanka. He was visiting the country on 25 December, the day before the tsunami hit. Today we are broadcasting a special appeal by him to LabourStart readers and to listeners of Radio LabourStart.
